Aircraft History Built by Kawanishi Kokuki K. K. at Naruo. This flying boat was either model H6K4 or H6K5. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Assigned to an unknown Kokutai, possibly the Yokohama Kokutai. No known markings. Wartime History During 1943, this flying boat operated from Sulpher Creek Seaplane Base at Simpson Harbor near Rabaul. Sometime prior to November 2, 1943 this Mavis was parked on the concrete apron and damaged by aerial attack and abandoned. Wreckage The wreckage was visible in aerial photos during 1943-1944 and appears to have been stripped for usable parts including the engines and tail. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped at the end of the Pacific War. Contribute
