Background

The Junkers Ju 52 trimotor was a military transport version of the civilian Junker G 31 Trimotor. In Germany, this aircraft was nicknamed "Tante Ju" (Auntie Ju) manufactured between 1935 until the surrender of Nazi Germany in May 1945. The Ju 52 was used as both a military transort and as a civlian airliner and transport during the prewar and postwar period. Remained in use as an airliner until the 1980s.
