Aircraft History
Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF). Assigned to an unknown Sentai. No known markings or tail code.

Wartime History
This Oscar was abandoned relatively intact at Clark Field. During late January 1943 captured by the U.S. Army and repaired by ATIU.

Display
Postwar, this Oscar was displayed on a pole in front of base operations. It remained until the 1960s when for unknown reasons the base commander had it taken down and scrapped.

Don Patrie, USAF adds:
"n 1948, I saw a Ki-43. It remained there for years and years. In approx. 1969, I was there again. The Base Ops building had been rebuild and the Ki-43 was missing. Years later, I heard that a Base Commander had it destroyed."
