Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 1 Fighter / Ki-43 Oscar manufacture number unknown. Assigned to the 59th Sentai. No known markings or tail code.
On January 23, 1944 took off from Dagua Airfield piloted by Captain Shigeo Nongo on a mission to intercept U. S. fighters over Wewak. During the interception, this Oscar likely shot down P-40N piloted by Crowley. Moments later, this Oscar was shot down by P-40N Warhawk pilot 1st Lt. Robert M. DeHaven from the 49th FG, 7th FS.
Note, some sources spell the pilots surname as "Nango" [sic Nongo]
