A6M5 Zero with cowl removed and cover over the engine (No. 1) parked at Jacquinot Bay Airfield
This is one of the three Zeros surrendered: A6M5 Zero 4043, A6M5 Zero 4379 or A6M5 Zero 4444. Visible at the center left is the right wingtip of Ki-46 Dinah 2783. At the center is a pair of cots and the removed engine cowl. The main landing gear are braced with chocks. In the distance is the tree line of the surrounding jungle.
