JAAF 26th Hiko Sentai

Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi, estimated assembly date of late April 1943. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF). Unknown if this aircraft was a reconnaissance version or assault version. Wartime History Assigned to the 26th Hiko Sentai with a yellow tail motif. Abandoned at Alexishafen Airfield on the north side of the runway. Captured when the Australian Army captured the area. Studied by Allied intelligence, it was estimated to be unserviceable before May 1, 1944. Wreckage Wreckage remained at the airfields until at least the late 1970s. Charles Darby located the Manufacture number and yellow tail markings of the 26th Sentai.
