Built by Mitsubishi for the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) designated Army Type 4 Heavy Bomber / Ki-67 Hiryu meaning "Flying Dragon". Allied code name "Peggy".

Ki-109
Experimental version for use as a high altitude interceptor.

Production
A total of 698 were built before the end of the Pacific War excluded the Kai and Sakura-dan conversions.
