Built by Piper Aircraft as model J3C-65D. Constructors Number 11572. Delivered to the U.S. Army as L-4H Grasshopper serial number 43-30281. Disassembled and shipped across the Pacific to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).
Wartime History
On June 28, 1944 photographed atop a GMC CCKW 2½-ton 6×6 truck on the beach of Wakde Island prior to being loaded aboard an Landing Ship Tank (LST) for the upcoming invasion of Noemfoor Island on July 2, 1944. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
