Aircraft History Built by Piper Aircraft as model J3C-65D. Constructors Number 11572. Delivered to the U.S. Army as L-4H Grasshopper serial number 43-30281. Disassembled and shipped across the Pacific to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History On June 28, 1944 photographed atop a GMC CCKW 2½-ton 6×6 truck on the beach of Wakde Island prior to being loaded aboard an Landing Ship Tank (LST) for the upcoming invasion of Noemfoor Island on July 2, 1944.
