Pilot Sgt Gavin Michael Collins, RAAF A34193 (Wounded) Crashed May 26, 1953 Aircraft History Originally assigned Royal Air Force (RAF) Serial WH259. Delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on December 17, 1951. Served with 77 Squadron, RAAF, during the Korean War. Mission History Took off from Kimpo, South Korea, to perform a rocket interdiction strike against troop concentrations and a supply area. According to the Squadron Operations Record Book: "Meteor aircraft, A77-11, Pilot being, A34193 SGT COLLINS, G.M., was caught in the jet wash of the leading aircraft and crashed on the overrun of the Southern end of the strip. The pilot received minor injuries and the aircraft was badly damaged a wipe off".
