IJN 762 Kōkūtai |
Aircraft History Built by Kawanishi at Naruo during 1944. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as N1K1-J Model 11 Shiden (George) manufacture number unknown (four digits). Painted with green upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces. Wartime History Assigned to 762 Kōkūtai (762 Air Group). Tail code 2-56 in yellow. Although the 762 Ku was a bomber unit, the 762 Kōkūtai had a Hikotai of N1K1-J Shidens based at Clark Field. By late January 1945 abandoned at Clark Field. On January 30, 1945 captured at Clark Field. The upper surfaces had weathered heavily revealing the bare aluminum. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
