This Catalina crew has rescued eight pilots. For the second time in two months, the name of Lt. Durkin has been crossed off the “missing list”. The pilot’s December feat was to appear at the 5th U.S. Air Force headquarters in New Guinea after passing through swampland of the South Dutch New Guinea coast near Japanese-held territory. In November. He was rescued from the ocean after a crash landing. Photograph released: December 21, 1943"
