Pilot Col. Cook Crashed March 23, 1943 MACR none Aircraft History Built by Bell in Buffalo, New York. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South Pacific and reassembled. Wartime History During August or September 1942, assigned 13th Air Force (13th AF). No known nose art or nickname. Mission History On March 23, 1943 took off from New Caledonia piloted by Col. Cook on a training mission and crashed near Ouassio Hill near Nouméa. Officially stricken from inventory March 23, 1943. References The precise date of the crash was on or around March 23, 1943, possibly several days earlier.
