Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Delivered to the U.S. Army. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 49th Fighter Group. No known nickname or nose art. Wartime History Abandoned at Finschafen Airfield. Wreckage Until 1974, the wreckage remained in situ at Finschafen Airfield. Recovery During 1974, the wings and cockpit section (incomplete fuselage) incomplete fuselage were recovered by Charles Darby and Monty Armstrong for Yesterday's Air Force. It was shipped to the United States were it was stored at Chino, CA. Restoration This aircraft was sold to Artemis Aviation Group and registered with the FAA as N959FT on June 26, 2014. References Graeme McDermott adds: "Charles Darby tells me it reportedly went to Yesterdays Air Force but he has heard nothing of it since.
