Pilot P/O Stuart Munro, 402963 (KIA, BR) Woodford Dale, NSW Crashed August 28, 1942 Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Originally intended for the Royal Air Force (RAF) as Kittyhawk Mark IA serial number ET741. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40E-1 Warhawk serial number 41-36095. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History During May 1942 assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as P-40E Kittyhawk serial number A29-108. On June 7, 1942 at Kingaroy Airfield assigned to No. 75 Squadron. Coded M. Mission History On August 27, 1942 took off from Milne Bay piloted by P/O Stuart Munro and crashed killing the pilot. Memorials Munro was officially declared dead the day of the mission. He is buried at Bomana War Cemetery at A3. D. 18.
