Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Assigned U.S. Army serial number 41-36083. Originally intended for the Royal Air Force (RAF) but was instead disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History During June 1942, assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Kittyhawk A29-132. On June 21, 1942 assigned to No. 75 Squadron. Nicknamed "Maaleesh Mk II" on the engine cowling above the exhausts on the port side. Coded "L". This P-40 operated from Gurney Airfield (No. 1 Strip) near Milne Bay. On August 8, 1942 this P-40 was recommended for repairs, possibly due to damage sustained prior to that date. Transfered to 10 RSU and 12 RSU for repairs. On April 19, 1943 returned to No. 75 Squadron. On September 20, 1943 assigned to No. 82 Squadron. On November 12, 1943 this P-40 suffered a landing accident that damaged the left wing and was transfered to 2 OTU. At the end of the war, placed into storage.
