Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Constructors Number 27501. Delivered to the U. S Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40M-10-CU Warhawk serial number 43-5813. Disassembled and shipped overseas to New Zealand as part of defense aid. Wartime History During May 1943, delivered to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) as P-40M Kittyhawk serial number NZ3119. Reassembled and assigned to 2 Operational Training Unit (2 OTU). No known nickname or nose art. Postwar In 1948, sold to J. Larsen and remained at Rukuhia until at least 1967. Today This P-40 is registered in the United States as N5813 based at Tri-State Warbird Museum in Batavia, Ohio. Assembled by No.1 Aircraft Depot, Hobsonville and BoC at Hobsonville on 21 May 1943. To No.2 OTU, Ohakea. Sold to J. Larsen from Rukuhia on 2 March 1948. One of the last 4 Kittyhawks to be melted down, this aircraft was still extant at Rukuhia in March 1967. Recovered from Rekuhia, NC ca 1969. To J. Chambers and with Don Subritzky at Dairy Flat for restoration to airworthy condition 1988-2000. To US civil registry as N5813. 5814 to RAAF as A29-383 Jun 1943."
