Pilot F/O Peter Shiers Rishworth, 412740 (MIA / KIA) Masterton, Wellington, NZ MIA November 22, 1943 at 6:45am Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Constructors Number 28784. Assigned U.S. Army serial number 42-105022. Disassembled and shipped overseas to New Zealand as part of defense aid. Wartime History Delivered to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) as P-40N Kittyhawk serial number NZ3169. Reassembled by 1 Aircraft Depot at Hobsonville Airfield on August 11, 1943. Assigned to No. 18 Squadron coded "59". No known nickname or nose art. Mission History On November 22, 1943 took off piloted by F/O Peter S. Rishworth on a mission. This P-40 suffered engine problems then ditched into the sea off the Treasury Islands at approximately 6:45am. Pilot Rishworth was killed in the crash. This aircraft was officially written off on December 17, 1943. Memorials Rishworth was officially declared dead the day of the mission.
