The Ameican is likely AOM3c Carl E. Creamer who was one of three crew member of PBY Catalina piloted by Cusick shot down on June 3, 1942 and rescued by the Japanese and became Prisoners Of War (POW). All three survived captivity and were liberated at the end of the Pacific War.
