Built by Curtiss. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as SB2C-1 Helldiver bureau number 01068.

Wartime History
Assigned to USS Essex (CV-9), Air Group 15 (AG-15), Bombing Squadron 15 (VB-15). No known nickname, nose art or markings.

Mission History
On July 25, 1944 took off from USS Essex (CV-9) piloted by Lt. Henry H. Kramer on a third strike mission against Guam. Returning, this Helldiver ran low on fuel and ditched at sea and was rescued and returned to duty.

Memorials
Kramer was officially declared dead September 8, 1944. He is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.

References
Previously, Kramer was an SBD Dauntless dive bomber pilot with Bombing Squadron 3 (VB-3) during 1943 and ditched SBD-3 Dauntless. Next, assigned to Bombing Squadron 15 (VB-15). On September 8, 1944 pilot F6F-3 Hellcat 42616 on a mission over Peleliu and went Missing In Action (MIA).
