Grave of Captain William F. Spang at American Cemetery Guadalcanal
The wooden cross reads "Capt. Spang". A propeller blade with bullet holes and a propeller spinner are in front of the cross. On December 1, 1942 took off piloting SBD-3 Dauntless 06662 and when returning after dark to land at Henderson Field, crashed killing him on impact.
