Aircraft History Built by Grumman. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as TBF-1 Avenger bureau number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to Torpedo Squadron 8 (VT-8) to pilot Ensign Albert K. “Bert” Earnest. On the right side of the cockpit was "Ens Earnest" in black stencil and one Japanese flag indicating an aerial victory claim. Wartime History During September 13, 1942–October 27, 1942 operated land based from Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. This Avenger was abandoned at Henderson Field.
