The Japanese fighter plane depicted is an Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) A6M3 Zero Tail V-1?? [sic]. In fact, the Japanese fighter shot down was a Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) Ki-43-I Oscar pilot Yoshitake from the 11th Hiko Sentai (11th Flying Regiment).
