Background
The Curtiss YP-37 was a fighter plane developed off the Curtiss P-36 Hawk with an inline engine for better performance. A small number were built for testing by the U.S. Army Air Corps but when the expected top speed was not achieved, the project was terminated in favor of the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk.
Production
A total of 14 were built including one prototype for evaluation by the U.S. Army Air Corps.
