During early 1942, used by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as a military airfield for fighter aircraft.

The first runway is oriented 29C/11C measures 4,644' x 98' surfaced with asphalt. The second runway is oriented 29L/11R measures 3,419' x 75' surfaced with asphalt.
