Originally known as Potshot Airfield and later named Learmonth Airfield. Today known as RAAF Learmonth. Wartime History During the Pacific War, code named "Potshot". This airfield was maintained by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) 76 Operational Base Unit. NEIAF units based at Learmonth (Potshot) 18 Squadron (B-25C) Batchelor arrives March 10, 1944–March 23, 1944 departs Batchelor Naming Honors During 1944, renamed Learmonth Airfield in honor of W/Cdr Charkes C. Learmonth Missing In Action (MIA) January 6, 1944 aboard Beaufort A9-346. Postwar During the 1950s, became known as "RAAF Learmonth". Today Still in use today as Learmonth Airport used as both a military and civilian airport. Airport codes: ICAO: YPLM IATA: LEA.
