Location Lat 27° 24' 41S Long 151° 44' 7E Oakey Airfield is located at an elevation of 1,335' north of Oakey in central Queensland in Australia. Still in use today as RAAF Oakey as a military airport. Wartime History During the war, this was a RAAF training base. At the end of the Pacific War, used as a storage area for Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aircraft until authorized for write off and stricken off charge, then sold off for disposal or scrapped until the late 1940s. Today Still in use today by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and Australian Army. RAAF Oakey has three runways. The first oriented 23/05 measures 2,999' x 98' surfaced with asphlt. The second oriented 27/09 meausres 3.278' x 75' surfaced with asphalt. The third oriented 32/14 measures 5,410' x 98' surfaced with asphalt. Australian Army Museum of Flying Museum at Oakey dedicated to Australian Army aviation.
