Location Townsville Harbor Seaplane Base was located in Townsville Harbor in Townsville in Queensland in Australia with seaplanes mooring and operating in Cleveland Harbor. Also spelled Townsville Harbour Seaplane Base. Construction A portion of Townsville Harbor was used as a flying boat base and mooring area. Mooring no. 1-2 were civilian aviation moorings. No. 4-7 were buoys used by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Wartime History During World War II, a portion of Townsville Harbor was used as a flying boat base and mooring area between the break waters. Flying boats would taxi between the two breakwater beacons into Cleveland Harbor for take offs and landings. Today Disused as a seaplane anchorage since the Pacific War.
