Location Wagga Wagga Airfield is located at Forest Hill on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. Also known as RAAF Base Forest Hill, Waga Waga Airfield, RAAF Base Wagga. Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) units at Wagga Wagga 31 Squadron (Beaufighter) Formed Aug 11 - Oct 1942 2 SFTS (Wirraway) Post war, Wagga Wagga Airfield was utilized as one of many airframe storage sites and later saw a lot of aircraft scrapping and disposal. RAAF Base Wagga The entrance to the current Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base is along the Stuart Highway. Today RAAF Wagga supports two key headquarters of Wings from Air Force Training Group; RAAF College and Ground Training Wing; along with four major training units; No 1 Recruit Training Unit (1RTU), School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS), RAAF School of Technical Training (RAAFSTT), and the RAAF School of Administration and Logistics Training (RAAFSALT). No 31 Squadron, RAAF, was reformed at RAAF Base Wagga in 2010. RAAF Base Wagga Heritage Centre Located in the original RAAF guard house outside the RAAF Base, the Heritage Centre is home to a number of displays relating to Royal Australian Air Force operations and history in the area. Five ex-RAAF aircraft are displayed outside the Heritage Centre as gate guardians to the RAAF Base including an F-111. Wagga Wagga Airport The civilian airport terminal is located along Don Kendall Drive, Forest Hill, on the opposite side of the airfield to the RAAF Base. The two major airlines which service Wagga are QantasLink and Regional Express (REX).
