Location Lat 7° 27' 43N Long 151° 50' 35E Moen 1 Airfield is located at the northwestern tip of Moen Island in Truk Lagoon in Chuuk State (Truk) in the Federated States of Micronesia. Known to the Japanese as Harushima Airfield and was part of the East Caroline Air Field Group. Also known as "Moen Airfield No. 1", "Airfield No. 1" or "Moen 1". At the southern corner was Moen Seaplane Base and built by early 1944 was Moem 2 Airfield (Moen 2). Today known as Chuuk International Airport or Chuuk Airport. Construction Built by the Japanese starting in November 1942 until completed in December 1942. Originally, the single runway measured 300' x 3,750'. Used by fighter, bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. About 80 support buildings were nearby and taxiways, 10' x 85' with square bomber revetments and a large hangar. East of the airfield was an extensive underground storage facility for ammunition and fuel. Gun positions, storage areas, barracks, shops, garages and a power plant. American missions against Moen No. 1 Airfield (Moen 1) March 30, 1944 - June 27, 1945 Today Still in use today as Chuuk International Airport or Chuuk Airport, a small airport and port of entry airport. The single runway is oriented 22/04 measures 6,006' x 150' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: PTKK, IATA: TKK.
