Location Lat 27° 33' 10N Long 95° 34' 15E Sookerating Airfield is located to the south of Sookerating (Dum Duma) in Assam State in northeastern India. Wartime History Used by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as a wartime airfield. On October 25, 1942 Japanese aircraft attack airfields connected with the the India-China air transport route including Sookerating. On October 26, 1942 Japanese again hit airfields in Assam connected with the India-China transport route, concentrating on Sookerating no US aircraft are lost; due to a lack of warning, no fighters intercept the attacking force. American units based at Sookerating 10th AF, 1st TCS (C-47) New Delhi arrives October 19, 1943–April 20, 1945 departs Warazup 443rd TGC, HQ (C-47) Sylhet arrives June 6, 1944–July 9, 1944 Dinjan 443rd TCG, 315th TCS (C-47) Sylhet arrives June 10, 1944–June 20, 1944 Moran / August 2, 1944 departs Ledo 3rd CCG, 11th CCS (C-47 det) Dinjan arrives June 16, 1944–July 14, 1944 departs Dinjan Today Still in use today as Sookerating Airport.
