Location Lat 6° 54' 2S Long 107° 34' 35E Bandoeng West Airfield is located at an elevation of 2,436' above sea level to the west of Bandoeng (Bandung) in western Java. Also known as Andir Airfield for nearby Andir. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in West Java Province in Indonesia and renamed Husein Sastranegara International Airport (Husein Sastranegara Airport). Construction Built prewar by the Dutch colonial administration as a civilian and military airfield. Wartime History During the early months of the Pacific War, used by U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) B-17 Flying Fortresses. In March 1942 occupied by the Japanese for the remainder of the Pacific War. Today Still in use today as Husein Sastranegara International Airport or simply Husein Sastranegara Airport in honor of Husein Sastranegara an Indonesian aviation hero from West Java. Used as both a civilian and military airport. The single runway is oriented 29/11 measures 7,361' 148' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: WICC IATA: BDO. On May 24, 2018, Kertajati International Airport was built to the east of Bandoeng (Bandung) to serve as a second airport to serve the Bandoeng (Bandung) area.
