Location
Maffin Airfield was located near Maffin near Maffin Bay on the north coast of New Guinea. To the northeast is the Snaky River and to the southwest is the Woske River. A coastal track ran parallel to the coast. Also known as "Maffin Bay Airfield". Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Dutch New Guinea. Today located in Sarmi Regency in Papua Province in Indonesia.

Construction
A single runway was built by the Japanese during early 1944. This airfield was likely never completed or operational and was abandoned as U.S. Army troops apporached the area in the middle of 1944. Occupied by the U.S. Army.

April 29, 1944 - August 16, 1944

Bob Rocker adds:
"As you can see in the photo, there are still logs in the runway. I think I read some where that the Japanese put the logs on the runway so Allied aircraft could not land there unless troops landed there to clean up the runway."
