Location Lat 1° 4' 24S Long 134° 49' 52E Namber Airfield is located at Namber near the west coast of Noemfoor Island (Noemfoer, Noemfor). Also known as Namber Drome. Prewar and during the Pacific War, located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in Biak Numfor Regency in Papua Province in Indonesia. Construction During December 1943 occupied by the Japanese. A single runway was built at this location using Formosan and Indonesian laborers and completed during 1944. Wartime History During early 1944 used by the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) medium bombers including Ki-21 Sally and Ki-49 Helen. Between May 1944 until early July 1944 attacked by American bombers and fighters. American missions against Namber May 13, 1944–July 8, 1944 On August 31, 1944 occupied by U.S. Army paratroopers. It was then improved and used by American forces. Several Japanese wrecks were present at the strip, including two Ki-21 Sallys and a Ki-49 Helen. Contribute
