American missions against Atsugi and Atsugi Airfield
April 19, 1945–August 30, 1945

April 19, 1945
(7th AF) Very Long Range (VLR) Mission 4: P-51s fly a fighter sweep to Atsugi.

May 17, 1945
(7th AF) Fighters fly 41 effective strike sorties against Atsugi pilots claim 10 parked aircraft destroyed.

August 7, 1945
(7th AF) P-51s attack Atsugi.

August 28, 1945
(7th AF) 7th AACS Wing, received orders to fly into Atsugi Airfield and set up the communications equipment necessary to guide in the first contingent of occupation troops. Colonel Blake and his AACS men, part of a 150 man task force, flew from Okinawa to Atsugi with 24 C-47 aircraft laden with equipment. In order to carry as much equipment as possible, the load was lightened by carrying only enough fuel to reach Atsugi.

August 30, 1945
(US Army) The occupation of Japan in force begins when the 11th Airborne Division is flown to Atsugi Airfield. On this day, Atsugi was the busiest airport in the world.
