The aircraft photographed is one of five A6M3 Zeros from the Tainan Kōkūtai (Tainan Air Group) that strafed No. 1 Strip (Gurney Field) including A6M3 pilot Jôji Yamashita (KIA), A6M3 pilot Sadaô Yamashita (KIA) and A6M3 pilot Ninomiya and A6M3 pilot Kakimoto (pilot POW, later died by suicide).
