A6M2 Zeros from Shōkaku led by Lt Tadashi Kaneko strafe Salamaua then fly inland to attack Bulolo, less Kaneko who remains over Salamaua. Afterwards, all Zeros return and depart for their rendezvous point across the Huon Gulf.
