G4M1 Betty parked in revetment at Vunakanau Airfield
At the center is G4M1 Betty Tail 3?9 (possibly 309, 359 or 369) with a single white horizontal stripe from 702 Kōkūtai (702 Air Group), 5th Hiko Buntai. A canvas or camouflage cover is atop the right wing partially covering the Hinomaru (Rising Sun) insignia and the circular fuselage door is partially open. This bomber might have been damaged in strafing or parafrag bomb attack with the left wing on fire. Visible in the front of the revetment is spilled or leaking fuel or oil onto the taxiway.
