Built in 1960 to allow commercial flights into French Polynesia.

Today
Still in use today as Tahiti Airport used as a civilian airport and port of entry airport. Also known as Tahiti Faaa Airfield or Tahiti Faa'a International Airport. The single runway is oriented 22/04 measures 11,360' x 148' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: NTAA IATA. Serviced by Air Tahiti, Air New Zealand and Latam Airlines.
