Location Lat 24° 49' 5N Long 120° 56' 22E Shinchiku Airfield is located at an elevation of 26' above sea level to the west of Shinchiku (Hsinchu, Xinzhu) at the northwest of Formosa (Taiwan). During the Japanese colonial era between 1895–1945, located in Shinchiku Prefecture of Formosa. Today located in Northern Taiwan in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Wartime History Shinchiku Airfield was used by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. On November 25, 1943 the first U.S. planes from the 14th Air Force (14th AF) attacked Shinchiku Airfield. During the middle of January 1945, U.S. air attacks resumed until the end of the Pacific War. American missions against Shinchiku November 25, 1943–August 10, 1945 Today Postwar, renamed Hsinchu Airfield (Xinzhu). Still in use today as Hsinchu Airport or Hsinchu Air Base and used as a military airfield. The single runway oriented 23/05 measures 11,955' x 148' surfaced with Partially Concrete, Asphalt (PEM).
