Located on Annette Island. Also known as "Annette Island Airfield".
Construction
Built as a project
of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the late 1930s.
Work was continued on the field through the winter of 1941-1942
by the Army Corps of Engineers, under the command of Major George
J. Nold.
Wartime History
Canada supplied a squadron of fighters to Annette. By May 5, 1942 RCAF No. 115 (Fighter) Squadron was in place,
becoming the first Canadians ever based in U.S. territory to
directly assist in American defense.
