Location Lat 27° 50' 57N Long 82° 31' 16W MacDill Field is located south of Tampa in Florida in the United States. Wartime History During the Pacific War, used by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). During December 1941 and January 1942, MacDill Field was the departure point for B-17E Flying Fortresses and LB-30 bombers being ferried via the "African Route" to Java in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI).
