Location Pyote Airfield is located in western Texas in the United States. Wartime History Built in 1942. Also known as Rattlesnake Bomber Base after the diamondback rattlesnake found in Texas. The base encompassed over 3,000 acres. USAAF units based at Pyote 19th BG (B-17) January 1943 333rd BG, 467th BS (B-17) 1943 Today After the war, the base was used to store mothballed B-17 and B-29s.
