Location North Rockhampton Cemetery Norman Gardens Rockhampton, Queensland, 4701 Australia North Rockhampton Cemetery is located at the intersection of the Bruce Highway amd Moores Creek Road in Norman Gardens in Rockhampton in Queensland in Australia. Also known as Rockhampton Cemetery (North) or Rockhampton Cemetery. Rockhampton War Cemetery The Rockhampton War Cemetery is located within North Rockhampton Cemetery. Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) with thirty-six war graves from World War II. On November 16, 1943 lost was C-47 "Betty El" 42-23589 crashed at at Carnarvon Gorge, Queensland. After the crash, the remains of the Australian passengers were buried at Rockhampton War Cemetery. Abbot at plot A, row A, grave 6. On December 19, 1943 in the morning C-47A "Hoosier Traveler" 43-30742 crashed at Ross Moya Road in the Canal Creek area roughly 30 miles north of Rockhampton with 31 fatalities including 11 Australians. Due to the high loss of life, the crash site was dubbed "The Canal Creek Disaster".
