WEDNESDAY, 9 DECEMBER 1914
(ANMEF) A detachment of the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (ANMEF) occupied Kieta.

(RAN) Later that same day, HMAS Warrego (D70) arrived at Kieta to inquire about MV Buka. Several natives directed them to the spot where the vessel was scuttled.
