USA: U.S. President Harry S. Truman the Medal of Honor earned by Commander Samuel D. Dealey was presented to his widow at a ceremony in the White House.

RAAF: Crashed is Dakota A65-54 on a flight from Jacquinot Bay Airfield bound for Rabaul (KIA). Crashed due to an aerial collision are P-40N Kittyhawk A29-527 (survived) and P-40N Kittyhawk A29-1210 | A29-1462 (KIA).

USN: USS Sturgeon (SS-187) is decommissioned at Boston Navy Yard.

USAAF: 673rd Bombardment Squadron (673rd BS) "Flying Cowboys" is inactivated at Itami Airifeld.
