During April 1953 U.N. forces in Korea began distributing propaganda that shared the story of Polish pilot Franciszek Jarecki, who defected with a MiG-15 on March 5, 1953 and received $50,000 USD and became a U.S. citizen. Leaflets were dropped in North Korea encouraging pilots to defect with their jet fighter to South Korea.
