Gun History
Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as 75mm Mountain Gun Type 41 (1908) serial number unknown. Transported to Kolombangara Island.
Wartime History
This gun was emplaced in a depression next to a plam tree on southern Kolombangara Island overlooking Kula Gulf. This gun sustained shrapnel damage to the gun shield. During October 1943, abandoned when Japanese garrison withdrew with the breech block attached. Afterwards, captured by Allied personnel and photographed in situ with boxes of ammunition to the right of the gun. Ultimate fate unknown likely abandoned or otherwise disappeared.
