Gun History Battery of six guns delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as 75mm Type 88 anti-aircraft gun serial numbers unknown. These guns were transported to transported to Wewak in New Guinea. Wartime History This battery of six guns were emplaced in revetments on the northern side of Mission Hill ((Boy's Town) providing anti-aircraft defense over the Wewak Airfield (Wirui, Wewak Central) and Wewak (Wewak Point) area. This gun battery was supported by a range finder and vehicles with ammunition trailers. Wreckage The six guns remain in situ on the northern side of Mission Hill off the road to the summit. 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Mission Hill Battery) Gun No. 1 Emplaced on the hill, barrel at 45° angle with breech block removed. 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Mission Hill Battery) Gun No. 2 Emplaced on the hill, barrel at 75° angle, barrel depressed breech block removed. 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Mission Hill Battery) Gun No. 3 Emplaced on the hill, base only at 45° angle with the gun barrel removed. 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Mission Hill Battery) Gun No. 4 Emplaced on the hill. 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Mission Hill Battery) Gun No. 5 Emplaced on the hill. 75mm Anti-Aircraft Gun (Mission Hill Battery) Gun No. 6 Emplaced on the hill.
