Location Agattu Island is located at the eastern end of the Near Island Group (Near Islands) in the Aleutian Islands Chain (Aleutian Islands) in Alaska in the United States. Wartime History Agattu Island was never fortified by the United States. During June-July 1942, MacDonald Bay was briefly occupied by Japanese warships. American missions against Agattu Island July 2, 1942–April 15, 1943 MacDonald Bay (MacDonald Cove) MacDonald Bay (MacDonald Cove) is located on the northeastern corner of Agattu Island. Wartime History On June 18, 1942 fleeing American air attacks against Kiska, seaplane tenders Kamikawa Maru and Kimikawa Maru, taking refuge in MacDonald Bay. On July 2, 1943 during the night, B-24 bomb Japanese ships at Agattu including Kimikawa Maru, Kamikawa Maru, Fujisan Maru plus six destroyers. Contribute
