| Location Lat 52.1N Long 176.1W Great Sitkin Island is part of the Andreanof Island Group (Andreanof Islands) in the Aleutian Island Chain (Aleutian Islands) of Alaska in the United States. To the southwest is Adak Island. John Atkinson adds: "It was uninhabited after WWII. I was stationed on that Island for ten months in 1954 or 55'. There were 12 of us maintaining fuel storage tanks on the slopes. I was the hospital corpsman on temporary assignment from Adak."
